The design, synthesis and relative propeities of funational coordination compounds are focus in the fields of coordination chemistry. In this paper the design of magnetic elements as main line, the new Schiff base ligand and azo as ligand, was synthesized in six transition metal complexes. In the application of elemental analysis, magnetic susceptibility, IR, electronic spectra, single crystal by means of conventional structures of these complexes were characterized on the basis of magnetic susceptibility with the experimental determination of the analytical results and various spectrum, from theory and Experiment focused on the two bridged polynuclear complexes of paramagnetic metal ions in the magnetic exchange interaction; so as to further bridge the nature of polynuclear complexes has opened up new avenues. In this thesis, as follows:Frist,The Mannich reaction of 2-aminoethanol(2-Amino propanol), 2-tert-butyl-4- methylphenol, and formaldehyd e at the ratio sets of 1: 2: 2 provided a new ligand, N-(1-ethanol)-N,N-bis-(3-tert-butyl-5-methy l-2-hydroxybenxyl)amine(H3L1). and N-(1-propanol)-N, N-bis-((3-tert-butyl- 5-methyl-2-hydroxybenxyl)amine (H3L2),In the presence of base, H3L reacted with FeCl3·6H2O to form a dinuclear Fe(III) complex [Fe2L12] 1. and [Fe2L22] 2, The value ofμeff at room temperature (5.95μB), is much less than the expected spin-only value (8.37μB) of two high spin (hs) Fe3+ (S=5/2) ions [μ=g[ΣZS(S+1)]1/2], indicating there were strong interactions between Fe3+ions.Second, The Mannich reactions of 3-amino-1-propanol, 2-tert-butyl-4-methylphenol, and formaldehyde at the ratio sets of 1:1:1, provide a new ligand, N-(1-propanol)-N(3-tert-butyl-5-methyl-2-hydroxybenxyl)amine (H2L3), reacts with CuCl2?2H2O or Cu(ClO4)2?6H2O to form two complexes [Cu2L2] (3) and [Cu2L2] (4), respectively. These two complexes have same formula, but display different crystal structures.Third, The reaction of methyl anthranilate, sodium nitrite, and 2,6-diamino-pyridine affords a new compound, 2,6-diamino-3-[(2-carboxymethyl) phenylazo]-pyridine (L4), which has been characterized with X-ray crystallographyand NMR spectrum. The reaction of L and CoCl2?6H2O or Cu(ClO4)2?6H2O gives a dinuclear cobalt(II) complex [Co2L2Cl3]Cl (5), and a copper(I) complex [CuL2]ClO4 (6) respectively. They are characterized byX-ray crystallography, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, NMR spectra, magnetic measurement and emissionspectra. Magnetic behavior of 1 denotes the occurrence of intramolecular antiferromagnetic interactions (J=?141.8 cm?1). Complex 6 exhibits photoluminescence at 557 nm.
