In addition atomic energy, semiconductors and computer, laser technology is one of the forth invention in the 20th century, and it was applied in the processing area at the end of eighties of 20th century. In the area of the electronic industry, laser micro-processing technology is the key technology to break the "bottleneck" of the semiconductor technology. Laser resistor trimming machine is an application of the laser processing equipments in the electronic industry, it was applied to produce film resistor and printed resistor of the IC efficiently.Multi-functional controller is one of the key parts for the function of the laser resistor trimming machine, it was used for detect ion and control in the process of resistor trimming timely. In the measurement process, it must be measurement accuracy and high speed. The multi-functional controller includes temperature measurement system, excitation source, acquisition system and the probes board. In this dissertation, several studies and designs are made concentrating on the Multi-functional Controller of Laser Resistor Trimming Machine.Analysis of structure and theory of the Laser Resistor Trimming Machine is made. Analysis of the situation of the Laser Resistor Trimming Machine and the significance of the project in native and abroad is made by a review on the development of this domain. According to the requirements of Laser Resistor Trimming Machine, analysis of the function of the Multi-functional Controller is made, and the holistic programming of the project is given out. According to the requirements of thermistor trimming, the temperature measurement system is designed by the technology of the infrared temperature measurement. For the resistor trimming without the electric and by the electric, the current power and the voltage power are designed. According to the requirements of the Laser Resistor Trimming Machine, the acquisition card and the power system are chosen, and the probe card is designed for the Multi-functional Controller. As the need of communication with the superior computer, the serial communication program is designed. At the end of the paper, the design of the Multi-functional Controller of Laser Resistor Trimming Machine is summarized.
