In order to achieve safe and reliable capture of belt for belt conveyor belt at the moment of broken belt. A kind of electric and hydraulic broken belt catcher of belt conveyor was developed with making use of the powerful PC software resources, virtual design and virtual packaging technique of CATIA software and the virtual simulation technique of ADMAS software by analyzing magnitude loss of belt broken and the problem of mechanical broken belt catcher at present.After studying on broken belt mechanism of belt conveyor and capture theory of broken belt catcher. An electric and hydraulic control type broken belt catcher of belt conveyor has been designed by using electric and hydraulic control theory. The forces of key components of broken belt catcher were calculated and structural strengths of key components of broken belt catcher were checked by using Newton classical mechanics. The parameters of broken belt catcher were optimized. Kinematics and dynamics were analyzed in the capture process of broken belt catcher by using Newton rigid body mechanics.The assembly drawing and machinery parts drawing of broken belt catcher were designed by use CAXA electronic chart board. The three-dimensional parts drawing of the broken belt catcher, virtual assembly and structure optimization design were designed with the aid of CATIA three-dimensional graphics software. The whole structure stability of broken belt catcher was analyzed after catching the broken belt by using the finite element analysis module in CATIA Generative Structural Analysis. The three-dimensional CATIA assembly model was imported into ADMAS software by using SimDesigner for CATIA and ADMAS interface software. The catching process of broken belt catcher was stimulated by using kinematics and dynamic analysis function of ADMAS software and the results of simulation were analyzed. The simulation results show that the electric and hydraulic broken belt catcher designed can prevent the malfunction before catching the belt, catch with fast response after the belt broken, and catch with safety and reliability, which can provide reliable basis for the development of physical prototype.
