This paper was aimed at the reliability experimental research of clampers which used for the scroll rolling guides in the background of the national science and technology project "Research and Industrialization of High-performance Damper, Clampers and Self-lubricating Devices Used for Scroll Rolling Guides (2013ZX04008031) ":research the basic principle, design the test device and put forward the scientific reliability evaluation system.At first, the basic working principle of clampers was cleared. Then, the key factors affecting the performance of clampers were theoretical analyzed and calculated. Lastly, a Pneumatic normally open type clamper was designed and the main performance parameters of clampers were defined and analyzed.According to the performance parameters and test requirement, the performance and measurement parameters of the reliability test device were determined and the clamper’s specific reliability test contents were defined. For each content, the specific experimental program was put forward. And according to the actual using conditions, the overall design scheme of the clamper’reliability test device was defined.Then the reliability test device’s structure of clampers was detailed designed, including the integral structure, core systems, auxiliary systems and so on. The measurement and control system of the clamer’s test device was designed, including hardware and software systems. Then the reliability test software system of the clamper’s test device was compiled by the C++ language and the using method was introduced.According to the main performance parameters and working principle of clampers, the failure criteria and mode when the reliability test launched was defined and the specific reliability test programs were put forward. Finally, the test procedures, test conditions, prototype and test device’s checks and precautions were introduced.The failure criteria of the clamping force of the clamper was verified by experiments and the reliability test of the Pneumatic normally open type clamper was carried out. The failure mechanisms of clampers were studied from the material and structural aspects. The corresponding improvement measures were put forward and the reliability test of the improved clamper was carried out. Finally, the reliability evaluation methods for clampers under two modes were put forward.
