Aiming at the life index of ball screws and finding the influencing factors under the comparison between domestic and foreign products in the background of the national science and technology project "Research of Roller Components Common Features Technology in High-grade CNC Machine (2012ZX04002021)", which needed to develop the life test device of ball screws, design the test plan and perfect the evaluation method of test data.At the beginning, failure models of ball screw life was analyzed, according to which the test classification was provided and the principle of the life test which wouid be needed was analyzed and the demand was put forward then.According to the test demand, the premise condition of the design was to clear the index requirement and measurement parameters, based on which, the overall project design of test bed was proposed, as well as the two kinds of loading scheme, both of them were introduced and the precision request of the test device by synthesis of two schemes were provided.On the basis of the overall test schemes, the two loading modes were introduced respectively in detail. The bidirectional loading scheme was introduced including the main components while the introduction for the external force loading scheme was designed detailedly, including the selection and check for driving and loading parts, the structure design of headstock and tailstock component parts, as well as the tested ball screws, table parts and body parts, which was followed with the ANSYS optimization.According to the requirements of testing indexs, the measurement and control system was designed, including the hardware and software parts. The hardware of the system was constructed by each module and then established contact between the control module and data acquisition module with the PC while the software of the system was compiled under the function of VB. Finally, the method of using the life test software was introduced.Moreover, since the measurement and control system was completed, the research of accelerated life test stress level was carried on and the life test preparation, process were analyzed. Also a preliminary data analysis and model selection methods were put forward and then application of the graphical method was studied according to the test requirements.
