Industrial practice has proved that phosphate ethylenediamine is an effective activator of copper oxide ore, especially have a better effect on refractory copper oxide ores. However, the mechanism study of phosphate ethylenediamine acting on copper oxide ores is relatively small, if we can conduct a more in-depth study on its mechanism, it will be more effective in directing industrial applications. Therefore, this paper mainly takes copper oxide ore-malachite as objects to study the action mechanism of phosphate ethylenediamine with malachite.In this paper, through the "single bubble tube" flotation tests of malachite pure mineral found that:in the flotation system of "phosphate ethylenediamine-sodium sulfide-butyl xanthate", the malachite recovery is not only has greatly improved than the flotation system of "sodium sulfide-butyl xanthate ", but also the recovery curve doesn’t meet the conventional "normal distribution" and appears a fluctuation phenomenon within a specific range. The result showed that:when the amount of phosphate ethylenediamine is 2×10-5mol/L、 6×10-5mol/L, the recovery rate values at the "spikes" of the recovery curve; when the amount of phosphate ethylendiamine is 4×10-5mol/L,8×10-5mol/L, the recovery rate values at the "trough" of the recovery curve, and within this range, phosphate ethylenediamine’s activation effect is very obvious.In the process of phosphate ethylenediamine acting on malachite pure mineral, it studied the recovery curve fluctuation phenomenon by XRD, AFM, XPS, ICP and other analytical test methods. Analyzing the results of phosphate ethylenediamine acting on malachite, on the one hand, it generates fresh mineral surface through the micro-dissolution and enhances the agents’adsorption, improving flotation behavior; on the other hand, the chelate copper of ethylenediamine both of them generated will adsorpt in the fresh surface of malachite in varying degrees, priority effecting on sulfide, hydrogen sulphide ions and xanthated ion and promoting the occurrence of the flotation process.When the amount of phosphate ethylenediamine is too large, it will converted into the inhibitor of copper oxide. The reason is that the excess [Cu(en)2]2+ transferred to the liquid phase and reactioned with sodium sulfide solution, the production similar to copper sulfide colloid, as well as a large number of consumption of sulfur ions, hydrogen sulphide ions and xanthated ion, the deterioration of the flotation behavior. At the same time, the volatility phenomenon of the recovery rate curve is very difficult to be observed.
