Integrated PTC (Positive Temperature Coefficient) Starter is an important part for the safe and stable work of the refrigerator compressor. It has the advantages of small size and simple installation, and the market demand is huge. But starter assembly process with manual assembly mainly has a low degree of automation and productivity at present, also the quality of starter cannot be controlled, which not only cause the problem of increasing labor costs, but also hinder the promotion of starter and the development of enterprises. Aiming at above-mentioned problems, this paper designs a new automation assembly system for Integrated PTC Starter, which can meet the needs of enterprises to mass production with a high degree of automation and simple operation. The main contents of the paper are summarized as follow.(1) The traditional manual assembly process is analyzed, and a new process of automation assembly is put forward with the features of the starter. On this basis, the assembly order and the number of the worker one are determined. According to the requirements of the different workstations, the assembly scheme of each module is designed. The overall scheme of the automation assembly is made; also the move pattern and path of the actuators are determined.(2) In view of various factors caused by the material conveying for vibratory bowl feeder, such as small size and irregular shape, theoretical analysis and experimental research are studied by establishing a dynamic model. Based on the speed analysis of the acceleration when the material move into the trough, the inclination for the feeder, the friction of the trough, and the working frequency that the vibrator has, the results of these provide important theoretical basis for the dynamic design of vibratory bowl feeder. According to the structure of the assembly parts, new orientating structures are designed for the fast and stable way in material conveying.(3) According to the requirement of the assembly process, the indexing structure for the material conveying is designed. A new idea of secondary pressure assembly is put forward due to the complexity of the shell structure and the thin-walled characteristic, and the industry manipulator is designed. Based on the structural features of each assembled parts, the pallet and the mechanism is designed for the faster way in starter assembly.(4) Based on the research of the automation assembly system, pneumatic-electronic control technology is used. The PLC control program and monitoring interface based on touch screen are developed. Complete the manufacturing, assembly and adjustment of the whole prototype, and make the debug of assembly system. Through the actual running of the prototype, we can find that this set of equipment rigs out 15 starters per minute, and the failure rate is below 5%, which meets the needs of the company.
