Up to now, there has been many applied researches about tobacco leaf curing assisted by solar energy in our country. However, most of them were just the simple combinations of solar collector and the stove,there still remained many problems.This paper aiming at the existing problems and shortcomings to carry out the design and research about solar energy assisted heating system used in tobacco leaf curing. We not only designed the large monolithic plate solar air collector and control system based on AT80C52, but also selected out the optimum passageway spacing ratio through a lot of experiments, and raised the availability of solar energy and the degree of energy coupling between solar collector and stove.The methodologies of theoretical analysis and experimental test have been used in the paper. Here was something in part of theoretical analysis. Firstly, the heat required in process of curing was estimated. Then the effective area of collector, the power of collector fan, and the diameter of inlet pipe and outlet pipe was ascertained. As well as, the best control scheme of thermal coupling was made out on the basis of heat supply principle. The heating system was built based on the theoretical calculation, at the same time, the control system was designed according to the best control scheme of thermal coupling. Now, here was something in part of tests. Firstly we carried out the research of optimum top and bottom passageway spacing ratio,experiment results show that the efficiency is much higher when the ratio is 2:1. Secondly, the testing experiment of control system was carried out to test the veracity and stability of control system. Finally, the research about moisture content variation characteristics of tobacco in solar energy assisted curing barn and the comparison with ordinary curing barn in the curing process were done. And the mathematical model of moisture content variation in solar energy assisted curing barn was set up, so as to provide a theoretical reference for the using of solar collector in the solar energy assisted curing barn.In the end, the comparison between solar energy assisted curing barn and ordinary curing barn was made in some respects, such as the energy consumption, the cost, the recycle period of investment and the contribution to society.
