Sintering pellets produced by the grate-kiln technics has several excellences, for example, it can adapt a lot of raw materiel, it production is huge; the quality of the pellets is very good and low cost, etc. As a result, the grate-kiln technics burning coal gets good application national wide in recent years. The designing of the system and homemade of the equipments just began several years ago, so in the existent pellets producing system, there are a lot of problems from the system designing, arrangement of the technics to the selection of the equipments need to be solved.The paper based on the grate-kiln technics in BenXi Steel. The materiel weight balance and heat balance in 9 sections of the system are calculated. Using the calculating function of the software Excel, the calculating parameters in 9 sections are associated to form an organic calculating system. As a result it not only objectively described the complicated materiel and energy flow in the grate-kiln system, but also reasonably reflected the energy cost in every section and the whole system.The paper based on a series of problems existed in the grate-kiln system, analyzed the thermal process and operation parameters of the system deeply. Finally some main sugestions were put forward.(1),Adopt the single chunnel coal burner in the kiln, cancel the combustion-supporting wind. It will help to improve the average radiation temperature, increase the production of the system and lower the cost of coal powder.(2),A new wind supplying system is put forward after the analysis of the circular cooling system. It strongthens the heat exchangement in the first section of the circular cooler and optimizes the distribution of the hot wind from every section of the cooler so that the hot wind can be reused mostly.(3),According to the reality of the factory and the analysis conclusion, a rectifying project of the grate-kiln system is proposed. It will help to optimiz the operation parameters and the thermal process of the system.
