Mechanical scanning sonar obtained target image data by using the underwater acoustic technology. The display console was important for processing target data. The goal of this paper was to design the display software for display system based on VxWorks which is the high powered real-time embedded operation system.The main content includes: research of acoustic image processing, simple display console software had been developed by VC and providing a foundation for the next work, development of display console software on VxWorks by MiniGUI.The acoustic image processing algorithm was learned, including gray transform and gray-scale morphology. The target detection algorithm was designed with threshold detection algorithm. Then we simulated and compare thed result, and improved the quality of these algorithms. Additionally the transformation between different coordinates was introduced. A complete analysis of design points and essential technology was made for MiniGUI and VxWorks. It was the feature of embedded operation system that VxWorks and MiniGUI together with the display console software to make into a whole.Finally a simulation experiment environment was created, and it was used to test the reliability and stability of the display console software. And it was proved that the software fulfills the predefined requirements.
