Underwater acoustic imaging technology has played an irreplaceable role in many situations. With wide applying foreground, it has been paid more attention.This Paper studies system design and implementation of the mechanical scanning acoustic imaging sonar, mainly including the hardware platform design and software implementation.Hardware platform design includes receivers, transmitters, data acquisition and network interface circuit design, stepper motor drive module control circuit.The core components of digital systems consist of the FPGA and DSP , the receiver in conjunction with digital circuitry completes automatic gain control.The power supply requirements for hardware platform , this paper designs the system power supply circuits.System software is built up basing on the hardware platform, including both FPGA software and DSP software. FPGA software includes data acquisition, FIR filter implementation, generating stepper motor control signals and transmitters transmit signals.DSP software includes network data transmission implementation, setting up computer communication protocols, controlling the receiver gain.Experiment is carried out and some discussions are given on the problems occurred in the experiment and relevant resolutions, as well as future promotion concerned.Experiments show that the hardware circuits and software programs run well and the predefined requirements are fulfilled.
