Imaging sonar plays an important role as visual extension for various applications in underwater entironment. Based on the development of imaging sonar, this thesis designs the digital system of imaging sonar using SOPC (System On a Programmable Chip) technology which is in the microelectronic area. This design method meets the performance requirements of imaging sonar system. In addition, it also provides a new solution for the design of related underwater equipment. The design of the digital system of imaging sonar needs to consider many factors, such as high-speed data acquisition and transmission, real-time signal processing, friendly human-computer interaction, design complexity, development cost and cycle, system scalability etc. As a result, the main contents are illustrated as following:Firstly, this thesis proposes three possible plans for designing based on the requirements of imaging sonar system. Comparative analysising from multiaspect, we design the system based on SOPC technology ultimately.Secondly, FPGA logic of data collection platform is designed, including:DDS (Direct Digital Frequency Synthesis) signal source, multi-channel data acquisition, HOTLink data transmission, clock domain division, sycn signal setting and platform workflow.Thirdly, SOPC display console is designed both hardware logic and embedded software. The design of hardware logic is to build system on chip, the core of which is NiosⅡprocesser and the key of the design is customizing fuctional components. The embbed software is mainly made up of peripheral driver, the graphical interface based onμC/GUI, network communication and system program flow. Finally, all the functional modules and the whole system are tested by the experiment in water tank. The result of experiment verifies the accuracy of system function and the stability of hardware and software.
