There are many problems in distribution network, such as many structural problems, much tree topology, serious distribution line loss, highlighted harmonic problems, less distribution network monitoring equipments, outdated equipments and low degree of automation. Because of these problems in distribution network, it is difficult to supply high reliability and high quality power. Since the whole power system is interconnected, any point failure may result in paralysis of the entire system, which is bound to form a serious impact on the national economy and the people's lives. So it is very imperative to improve reliability and quality of power supply, then automation of distribution system must be implemented, distribution system automation consists of transformer substation automation, feeder automation, distribution management automation and power supply automation.Distribution transformer terminal unit(TTU) can monitoring operating conditions of line, column or box-type distribution transformers in real time, detect and handle accidents and emergencies, and implement reactive power compensation. Functions of distribution transformer terminal unit determines that it is a foundation and core device in distribution automation system, so designing a high reliability and multifunction TTU which meet the application requirements is an urgent need for distribution system automation.Firstly, this article determines the basic functions and technical indicators of monitoring terminal aiming at the domestic distribution system automation requirements and referring to the advanced experience of similar installations at home and abroad, meanwhile determines the overall architecture of hardware and hardware design with the DSP processor dsPIC33FJ256GP710A as the core processor on the basis of various indicators of terminal; then taking digital signal processing technology in the distribution transformer terminal unit as a key point, focuses on the fast Fourier transform (FFT) algorithm and its three-phase voltage and current signal processing applications; and then on the basis of the overall architecture of hardware and hardware design, introduce the terminal hardware design ideas and gives hardware module interface circuit of the terminal, and describes the application of the hardware design anti-jamming technology; then on the basis of hardware platform, introduces the design ideas and program flow of every module on modular software design. Finally, this article proposes optimization method for the inadequacies of distribution transformer terminal unit,and also point out further research directions for future work.
