The VR technology(Virtual Reality,VR for short)which emerged in 1990s, is a new type tech involving many disciplines of high-tech. It combines computer technology, sensor technology, simulation technology, microelectronic technology as a whole. While the ideal of virtual reality technology is to use it, by using an artificial computer-generated virtual environment and through visual, auditory, tactile , taste, smell and other effects, it could offer a realistic feeling. During 20 years'exploration and research, VR technology has been applied in many fields such as manufacturing, health care, education, entertainment and so on.Along with the development of computer technology, it is possible to carry out VR technology on PC. It can be also used in the gas system of hydroelectric power station, providing a 3D visual environment which is interactive, and the gas system of hydroelectric power station could be displayed well. Users could observe and evaluate more conveniently.VR technology was analyzed and summarized in this paper. The basic structure of virtual the gas system of Hydroelectric Power Station display system was analyzed. The characteristic of virtual the gas system of Hydroelectric Power Station display system was summarized. Virtual the gas system of Hydroelectric Power Station display system was compared to the traditional method of product display,both the merits and defects were summarized. A relevant design flaw of virtual the gas system of Hydroelectric Power Station system was established.The main research work include the following aspect:First of all, this article introduced the gas system of Hydroelectric Power Station and analyzed the virtual application in native and foreign country. We combined VRML, 3DS MAX and the background database method together to design the system. This method can give us more interaction, more immersion, more imagination, and it is more suitable to transfer on Web.Then the thesis analyzed the work principles and basic characteristic of VRML, expatiated conception pattern of VRML browser and space coordinate system in detail. At the same time, VRML language structure was described, which highlighted the VRML file format, node and event system. The thesis summarized the function characteristics of VRML, which gived the academic base of the development of the system.By using computer virtual reality technology, virtual modeling, interaction and browse of Shijiazhuang Gangnan hydropower station gas system could be achieved. The thesis analyzed research content first, then gived the whole design of the system and introduced modeling of complex entities the gas system of Hydroelectric Power Station and introduced the develop tools simply.Besides, this thesis has given the method how to optimize VRML file and reduce romance of the system VRML file. At last, the work of the dissertation was summarized and the future research was put forward.Conclusion of this thesis has been offered at last. The research direction which maybe continued in the future has also been introduced.
