Design and selection of automotive stamping die parts is a key step,a large number of standard parts to repeat modeling and non-standard partsrely on the experience to design will affect design efficiency, so thatless experienced designers can not complete design task timely andeffectively, and it will impact on design of the follow-up processes,quality of the final product and production efficiency. The existingautomotive stamping dies knowledge engineering technology researchfocused on the design of automotive stamping die assembly,and the lackof study on part design systems. In this paper, knowledge basedengineering technology was used to study parts knowledge and modelcharacteristics in automotive stamping dies, the major researches focuson establishment of auto parts stamping die design system.In part functional classification, based on the current mold industry "MISUSI" standard and "Die national standard" for building of standard parts library, part model was built on the CATIA V5 software platform, part design and constraint rule editor under consultants module of knowledge-based engineering, knowledge representation of standard parts and reasoning mechanism were created, and optimal selection of standard parts was realized.Parameter-driven was used to design non-standard parts, a model file was create in three-dimensional design software, the establishment of Access table to means knowledge of part based on database, part design process and knowledge reasoning system were created under Visual Basic 6.0, and a hybrid reasoning approach was used for design process reasoning, achieved knowledge-driven design of non-standard parts.Manual and semi-automatic knowledge acquisition methods were used for knowledge acquisition in the knowledge system, acquisition and classification of knowledge and experience were done for size parameters, design knowledge and service conditions in the auto parts stamping die. In the knowledge-based system, the common knowledge and non-standard knowledge were represented in different ways. Through application process to establish user interface for browsing, query and add of part information, auto-generating system of standard parts selection and non-standard parts were designed, and realized acess of system with CATIA V5 platform and Access databases.Knowledge-based system for auto parts stamping die was created in this paper, research of knowledge acquisition,representation and inference techniques, and the the correct part models were selected and established to meet the designer's needs, shorten design cycle and The reuse and sharing of knowledge-based parts stamping dies were realized, which has a certain practicality.
