Experiment Study On The Reinforcement Of Rammed-earth Wall With Internal Bamboo-Canes Of Newly Built Rural Houses In Yunnan Province

In history, the earth building, fire and stoneware were three representative characters, the earth building has many merits especially the ecologic characterization, the rammed earth building is one kind of the earth buildings. Since 2007, the earthquake-safety project of rural house had been enabled in Yunnan, and we started the research with the special fund supported by Building office and Education office.Firstly, we investigated and analyzed the major factors influencing seismic bearing capacity of rural houses. The paper emphasized on how to distribute the bamboo-bars, by a series of experimental study, firstly present the concept "bamboo-rammed earth wall ", and put forward some benefit results on design and calculation method of the "bamboo-rammed earth wall". The results will partially used in new rural houses building and the earthquake-safety project.The Ning'er earthquake(morning,Jun3,2007) happened during the early stage of the paper work. In the chapter 2, simply retrospect the general situation of the earthquake, and analyze seismic damage of timber-earth houses, including seismic damage, factors, measures and so on. Chapter 3, surrounding the prepared work for rammed earth wall experiment, mainly refer to the specimens design, manufacture and curing, water ratio test, the tension test of bamboo-bar, soil mechanics test and so on, this chapter is prepared for next procedure. The chapter 4 is the essence of paper, including the procedure of experiment, phenomenon and result analysis, the first part refers to procedure and method, the second part includes the crack developing and destroyed shape and so on, the third part analyzes why bamboo-rammed earth walls is better than the traditional ones from seismic bearing capacity and ductility. In the last chapter, the conclusions are given and present some deficiencies of the paper, preparing for the future research.The paper belongs to the subject "Study on Mechanical Properties of Typical Adobe and Rammed Earth Wall of Rural Houses in Yunnan Province's Earthquake Safety Project".
