Since the reform and openness, hydropower industry has also got prompt development of economic construction in western China. So, trash-cleaning machine of cleaning dam dirt has emerged. For a long time, the design method of trash-cleaning equipment mostly adopts the traditionally static design and accord to the similar products'relevant information and empirical formula to design and calculation. It has adversely affected the quality and development speed of the trash-cleaning machine, and affected the hydropower industry's rapid development in western China.Virtual prototype are a revolution for the traditional methods of product design as a new technology of product design. Through virtual prototype technology, engineers use the mechanical system movement simulation, found the product's potential problem at the design stage and quickly modified to reduce the dependence on the physical prototype. It can not only reduce costs, shorten product's development cycle, but also improve product performance and enhance the competitiveness of products.In this paper, the floating self-pressuring harrow trash-cleaning machine was developed based on the first generation trash-cleaning machine. So, there are still a lot of questions, such as overfull weight and cost; the left track's design of safety performance; pressuring body's structure design; the design of the fence and the angle between the fence and the ground of the dam, and so on. These problems have seriously affected the performance and efficiency of the harrow trash-cleaning machine in the process of running, hindered the development of hydropower industry. This paper apply virtual prototype technology to the design of trash-cleaning machine, realize the simulation the agencies of trash-cleaning machine with time-varying in various conditions. It does lay the solid foundation of the research and development of the trash-cleaning machine's virtual design in the computer platform. It also has great significance for accelerating the development of trash-cleaning machine.In this paper, the major work and conclusions are as follows:(1) This paper set up the whole complex virtual prototype model of the floating self-pressuring harrow trash-cleaning machine using three-dimension entity software SolidEdge. It is on the base of the running of the first generation harrow trash-cleaning machine and aim the first generation harrow trash-cleaning machine's highlight shortcomings in running.(2) We input virtual prototype model of trash-cleaning machine into the ADAMS system, and set up virtual prototype model in the ADAMS environment. We come true the kinematics and dynamics simulation based on actual operating conditions after loading and imposing constraints, and obtain the force curve of left orbit of trash-cleaning machine and carry on the rational and effective analysis for the curve.(3) We input the left orbit of the floating self-pressuring harrow trash-cleaning machine into the generally finite element analysis software ANSYS, and carry on the analysis of the stress and strain properties for left orbit in ANSYS using simulation analysis results obtained from ADAMS software, and then come true the rational and effective analysis for the results by the ANSYS's after-treatment.
