Due to stable transmission ratio and high efficiency, gear transmission become the most commonly-used transmission form in the high-power mechanical system, which also has a wide range of applications in the ship equipment. Gearbox, as its necessary seal, dustproof component, will directly influence the quality of the operation situation of transmission device in the terms of dynamic performance; Gearbox resonance inspired by meshing gear takes widespread concern. Therefore, it is especially important to evaluate the factors affecting gearbox natural frequency and to modify aiming at avoid the resonance frequency. The vibration characteristics of marine gearbox are analyzed in the paper. Firstly, sensitivity research of natural frequency of one class of gearboxes with the same structure is executed, so the conclusion of how to select variable in the frequency optimization of marine gearbox in the style is obtained based on the sensitivity analysis. Then a gearbox of some type is optimized to avoid the meshing frequency of running gears through utilizing the conclusion with relative sensitivity theory. This study mainly focused as the following aspects:(1)The calculation methods based on finite element theory are compared and summarized.(2)Static analysis and mode analysis of gearbox are carried out after constructing the entity model.(3)Frequency sensitivity of three analogs to the gearbox are calculated to find the commonplace of the frequency sensitivity of the same type of the marine gear boxes, summarize the regular pattern, and select a designing variables of the target gearbox based on conclusion and relative sensitivity.(4)The structure of target gearbox is optimized based on its sensitivity results with the aim of avoiding the meshing frequency.
