Automotive transmission is a critical component of automotive transmission system, and its performance has important influence on automotive performance. The transmission test bench is important equipment that researches and improves the transmission performance. As a critical component of mechanical closed test bench, the high-speed connection gearbox links other devices and closes the transmission system of test bench, which closes the power and transfers load. Its reliability and stability will directly affect the work performance of the system. So the research on reliability and dynamic characteristics of high-speed connection box becomes very important.The research on the high-speed connection gearbox of test bench is carried out, and its 3 D model is completed with Pro/E. According to the gear engagement principle, contact mechanics, theory of modal analysis, finite element analysis was carried out on the connection gearbox. The main contents of the paper are as follows:(1) According to the transmission type of automotive transmission, the overall plan and main parameters of test bench are designed;(2) The design of high-speed connection gearbox is completed. According to the principle of involute spur gear machining, the tooth profile curve equation is deduced, and the precision parametric model of gear and 3 D model of connection gearbox is completed with Pro/E;(3) The finite element contact analysis at pitch point of single tooth meshing gear is completed, and the maximum contact stress with traditional theoretical calculation is compared, which proves the validity of analysis and reliability of design;(4) The load transfer process and conversion method of box is studied, and the finite element static analysis of box is also completed. The fourth strength theory confirms the reliability of design, and analysis results provide reference for structure optimization;(5) The constrained modal analysis of box is completed, which finds the resonance range of nature frequency and meshing frequency. According to the vibration modes, the position that affects the box frequency most is found out, and the effect on box frequency as thickness of plate changes is researched. Then an optimized plan that changes plate thickness and increase ribbed slab is presented, which is verified that the box avoids resonance range and loses weight by the modal and static analyses.
