Telescopic boom is an important component of the mobile crane, and is the main force component, crane can hang the load directly to achieve great height and range operations through the telescopic boom, Telescopic boom is used to support the wire rope and pulley structure, it can change the work range through its tilt and telescopic, and is directly mounted on the upper turntable. The design of telescopic reasonable or not, directly affect the carrying capacity and machine performance of the crane.In this paper, the mobile crane is the research object and ANSYS is the tool, by using its parametric design language (APDL) for secondary development, a special design system for telescopic boom of the mobile crane is established. The system sets the parametric design, analysis functions into one, and all of these functions are encapsulated in the macro file. Running this system, users only need to click the corresponding button and enter the required parameters, the system automatically complete the parametric modeling, analysis, results viewing and realized the quickly design.(1) Macros definition is declared in ANSYS, one to one relationship between the macro and toolbar button is established, a special toolbar is customized, and interface of telescopic boom is improved.(2) A typical finite element model for telescopic boom of mobile crane is set up using APDL language, as a base of institutional analysis. All the parameters of the boom dialog box have the input dialog and can be modified; the thought of parameters is applied.(3) Static analysis, modal analysis and buckling analysis are Integrated in the structure, and have the comprehensively calculate analysis of strength, stiffness, stability for the boom.(4) Take SMQ500A crawler crane as an example, the practicability and reliability of the system are verified.
