With the development of economy, operation reliability of power equipment is drawing unprecedented attention in every walk of life, especially in some fields that are closely related to people's livelihood. Once there are problems in the reliability or security of the equipment in these industries, the consequences will be very serious.The reliable operation of ship power plant can influence the navigation safety and economic benefits of the corporations directly. One of the key standards of measuring the advanced level of ship power plant is the automation of power plant. Therefore the developing direction of the current ship power plant must be the automatic power plant. The vitality of ship and various kinds of indicators including the economic indicators and technical indicators will be influenced directly by the quality of ship power supply and the operation reliability in ship power plant. This thesis firstly introduces the compositions,characteristics and the basic requirements of the ship power plant, then analyses the functions, features and requirements of automation of ship power plant. Finally the thesis presents the research and analysis in some typical aspects of the automatic controlled system EEA-22 of ship power plant.Reliability engineering is an interdisciplinary subject that is invented and developed in the last hundred years.Reliability engineering has its own systems as well as the unique and scientific theories and methods.Reliability prediction is one of the most important contents in reliability engineering. Although the reliability prediction of one system can not improve its reliability, the value of prediction lies in establishing a basic principle, which is used to choose the methods affecting the reliability design.In addition, the systemic and detailed prediction will help to identify some potential reliability problems.In this thesis, several widely used methods of reliability prediction are introduced briefly, and then the reliability of the generator control device SAG-23 of automatic controlled system EEA-22 of ship power plant is predicted by component count method. Finally, according to the characteristics of the protection unit in the ship power system, it is presented that malfunction failure rate should replace common failure rate to predict the reliability of the protection circuit, so as to predict the reliability of ship power system more scientifically and accurately.
