The Valve Regulated Lead Acid (VRLA) Battery has been used widely and played a decisive role in power supply system rely on its non-maintaining and safe reliability. Along with the dependability of the power supply plays a more important role in the system, the maintaining of the storage battery has been much accounted. The traditional maintenance technology with poor efficiency and huge consuming, it not only degrades capability of the storage battery, but also would be generated great damage on the whole power supply system once the storage battery went wrong. The Battery Online Monitoring as a new technology of maintenance the storage battery, will save the cost, extend the useful time of the battery, reduce the hurt and accident to the people and also improve the safety and reliability of the power supply system.The main point of this dissertation is to argue the point of Battery Online Monitoring could improve the capability of the storage battery, discussing through the methodology of principle analysis and descriptive research. At first, this article through scratching the background, the significance and the current and existing problems of the subject in the introduction, starts by the developing history of VRLA Battery, according to the principle of work and features, discussing the inefficacy mechanism, in order to find out the following elements which impacts on the battery's life term: environmental temperature, overcharge and over discharge. The capability of the battery should be reduced by the change of voltage, essential resistance and capacity. The article also analyzes the limitations of the traditional maintenance technology and measurements. Then, introduces two difference core technology of the Battery Online Monitoring System which including the internal resistance measurement and floating charge voltage adjustment, investigating their structure and principle of work, focusing on discoursing its application and improvement. Giving prominence to how to resolve the maintaining of the VRLA and the main problems during its working, such as: the huge maintaining cost; lag in technology and ineffectiveness. Finally, summarizing this dissertation and looking forward to this subject.
