Valve Regulated Lead Acid Battery(VRLA) in the power system is often used as a backup power supply, which is a DC power supply, when the main power supply system fails, the power system by the secondary system VRLA battery powered to maintain its normal work. Therefore, the stability of the VRLA battery and the state of charge in the process of actual discharge capacity is important to ensure the normal operation of power equipment. VRLA battery, in use process, due to overcharge, discharge, ambient temperature and other causes discomfort VRLA batteries premature aging, make the VRLA battery capacity decline, once the mains power supply fails, VRLA battery as the only energy supply can not provide enough power, leading to more accidents or equipment outage, so VRLA battery status in real-time monitoring of the work is very necessary.In this paper, based on the on-line monitoring of 12 V /100 Ah VRLA battery working condition as the background, on the basis of the working principle, performance features, both ends of VRLA battery injection 1 k Hz AC small signal internal resistance of the four-terminal measurement method, while real-time monitoring VRLA battery voltage, current, temperature, and other parameters. The system mainly includes: parameters acquisition module, main controller module, GPRS communication module, monitoring the host module. Real-time data acquisition module uses sensors collect VRLA battery operating parameters; Main controller module receives the working parameters of data processing and displayed on the LCD, at the same time the data uploaded to the Internet through GPRS wireless communication way for monitoring host reception.main controller comparing the collected parameters compared with preset threshold, when beyond the preset threshold,drive the alarm buzzer; Monitoring host receives the parameters from the host controller to upload data, and store data and display the working state of VRLA battery in the form of interface, when detect abnormal parameters of VRLA battery, in the form of a message to remind staff for troubleshooting. Dong Guan grid shows the VRLA battery online monitoring system design, Through the monitoring system for automatic collection of data and comparing the data obtained from field by battery tester to test, the measuring accuracy and operation status of surveillance system is verified,and the VRLA battery performance was evaluated.Because the system can monitor the working status of VRLA battery automatically, reducing the workload of the substation management personnel, managers can find VRLA battery failure and replacement in time, largely eliminate the dc power supply system caused by the VRLA battery failure paralysed safe hidden trouble, which laid a foundation for back-up power substation intelligent management.
