Research On Landscape Ecological Renovation Of Pit-pond

Pit-pond is an important ecological infrastructure for the urban development. It is one of the foundations of natural services for the urban residents and it plays an important role in the city, such as: regulating urban river flow, drought prevention floods; add urban groundwater, provide water sources; regulate urban air component, clean the air; purification of urban river water; urban micro-climate regulation, maintenance of urban living environment; beautify the urban landscape, providing tourism resources; education and scientific value; provide habitat for the urban wildlife. By the combined effect of human activity and climate changing, the water environment has changed greatly with the social and economic development. The pit-pond area has a significant reduction in some areas, or even disappearance, gradually loosing their roles.There are more or less some pit-ponds formed in the history within each historic and cultural city. Some of them are natural, some are dug. They used to be the important water sources in history except drinking, and they play the role of water drainage, they are also an important part of the urban water clock. However, with the urban development and water supply facilities improvement, the historical mission of these ponds has been completed, and gradually abandoned by the people. Some were filled and built the houses on it, some were gradually silt, floating a lot of garbage on the water, emitting bursts of foul smell, and becomes the dead place for the urban health. Of course, the old city of Anyang is no exception. The combined system which was formed in the 20 century and 70 years has been the important source of pollution for the city river except a few sections; it is a very serious phenomenon in the old city for polluting and filled ponds. Some sections are water logging, to which people reacted strongly. This paper analyzed the significance of status and existing pit-pond, and provided the landscape ecological renovation of the specific measures for the future conservation practices in pit-ponds to provide some reference.Firstly, the reason of pit-pond disappearing and the great significance of pit-pond for environment, ecology and economy are analyzed in this paper with a starting point of the problems of the existing pit-pond. Secondly, with the guidance of landscape ecology theory, the landscape and ecological renovation of existing pit-pond is analyzed and researched specifically. Thirdly, with the example of pit-pond in Anyang Old Town, the specific features of the Old City, the formation of the pit-pond and its function and the reason of pit-pond disappearing are analyzed based on the basic situation of the Old City, such as history, hydrology and economic conditions. Through the above content, this paper comes to the idea of the connection with the various pit-ponds and the stagnant water in order to make the dead water running. And the landscape ecological renovation of the pit-ponds, which are divided according to circumstances, into two different landscape ecological renovations namely hydrophilic garden and roadside green space, is discussed. The two different renovations are discoursed in detail, and management practices and recommendations are provided eventually.
