The Architectural Decoration Of The Ancient Village Zhaibuchang

The subject studied in this paper is the architectural decoration of the ancient village Zhaibuchang." Zhaibuchang" is an ancient village located at Sujiazuo Town, Bo'ai County, Jiaozuo City, Henan Province. There is a plenty of concentrated ancient architectural decoration with high quality in this village. The study on such village is of high social value and economic value both in academy and in practical application. Currently, Zhaibuchang has applied to be one of the seventh batch of national key units of cultural relics protection; however, there is less study on it, which result in the burying of its value. Considering that Zhaibuchang is a special case shown under the times background and the geography background, the author chooses the investigation and research on the architectural decoration of Zhaibuchang to be the topic.Zhaibuchang was founded in the Xianfeng Years of Qing Dynasty, currently has 3200 people, the area is 4.2 square kilometer, located at 5 kilometers southeast of Bo'ai county, under the jurisdiction of Sujiazuo Town. Under the baptism of the years, 100 luxurious ancient dwellings with 400 rooms in high quality are remained here. From the architectural decoration of the ancient village, we can find the aesthetical standard of the officials'family and rich family, and give a show of regional features of civil architectural decoration of Henan Province. The author tries to conduct a comprehensive and systematic analysis on existing architectural decoration of Zhaibuchang by means of field survey and documentation research; as well as discuss the modeling and interpretation etc. of traditional architectural decoration of Zhaibuchang, taking into consideration of the geographic features and human environment of Central Plains; and elaborate the historic and cultural background, classification, functions, main features, modeling, craft and so on, establishing the systematic and comprehensive documentary dossier of the architectural decoration of Zhaibuchang.The author visited Zhaibuchang four times, repeatedly investigated its 20 ancient buildings, and obtained more than 2500 pictures which have been classified systematically based on the elements of buildings. The author also made the survey and draw of the ancient buildings on spot, obtaining more than 30 plane graphs of each building; and organized drawing more than 200 line drawings of the architectural decoration. About 30 reference books, more than 10 articles and 5 interview recordings of the relevant researchers and villagers have been collected.By investigating and analysing on the architetural decoration f Zhaibuchang, this Paper, from the aspects of sociology, art theory, architecture, planning etc., provides some worthy materials for the ongoing new rural planning of Zhaibuchang, considering and positioning the new planning thinking of Zhaibuchang from new angle.
