In the power energy supply and distribution system, due to the complex and diverse regional distribution of power grid, power supply and power users, all the aspects of power system, such as production, operation and management, are closely related with geographic information. Undoubtedly, geographic information system (GIS) is a significant and indispensable part in the process of power grid informatization, with its unique and powerful data organization and spatial analysis capabilities, which meets a good visualization of power grid information management, both in the production process and decision-making management, have played a larger effect.However, nowadays, there are some inevitable problems in the GIS application of power system. We can sum up as the following points:firstly, real-time monitoring data and graphics cannot be updated to meet the better timeliness; secondly, the power system topology model and device information model cannot be supported sufficiently; lastly, the application of WebGIS in the power system is not efficient.These problems are related closely to spatial data management system of GIS platform. Based on sufficient study of structure, function and geographic data model of traditional GIS, this paper designs and develops a professional application of power GIS spatial data management system. The professional application requirement of power system is the system's core. Its main design objective is spatial data model, functional model and WebGIS applications. Specifically the following three parts:(1) The Electric Spatial Data Engine. The subsystem owns a data structure, Spatial Data Entity Model Based On Feature Component, which is designed and developed independently and can support effectively the topology model and equipment information model of power system. With the guidelines of OGC Simple Features, the subsystem is developed on the basis of open source package GDAL/OGR and owns the C/S architecture. Moreover, the system supports multi-source concurrent read and write, rapidly responses the spatial data requests of GIS software;(2) Concurrent Long-transaction Management. The subsystem relies mainly on operate order mechanism while lock mechanism as subsidiary, controls users'data access authority and provides concurrent multi-user spatial data manipulation service, for reasonable solution to data conflicts during operation. (3) Spatial Data Acceleration Technology. The spatial data indexing subsystem and mechanism of three-level index and two-level cache meets comprehensively the requirements of acceleration of spatial data. The advanced technology of Tile WebGIS, which cuts the massive low-frequency update GIS data into the pyramid tiles, fast responses WebGIS access requests.
