In this dissertation, with a new perspective, the Heterogeneous Buildings in Historic District are chosen as the study object which is supposed to re-examine their values. The article focuses on the researches around their Evaluation System and Re-use Pattern. Then it improves the theories of preservation and redevelopment of Historic District by design practice. The purpose of doing such researches is ultimately to achieve the purpose that preserving and redeveloping the Historic District is correct and scientific to a higher degree.Through several methods such as fieldwork, literature review, logical induction and so on, the research work is carried out in combination with Sustainable Development theory, organically upgrading theory and other relative theory. At the beginning, this dissertation reviews the development process on the preservation and redevelopment of Historic District at home and abroad, and then it is found the shortage of the theory and practice to solve the current problems. Based on this background, exploring new direction and re-examining heterogeneous buildings is introduced into the discussion. Furthermore, building the evaluation system of heterogeneous buildings directs treated conclusions. In addition, further explore the re-use pattern and manner of heterogeneous buildings. Finally, theory to guide practice, the reuse design project on the buildings named Jin Jiang Star at Deshengmen section of Shichahai in Beijing is accomplished.
