The torque converter and parallel gearbox is based on the research project "Traction Control System of Light Duty Traction Vehicle".Based on the light taction vehicle equipped with electrically controlled diesel engine, we research on the key technologies of the control of driving and the automatic shifting system, and design the control system,devloped the practical prototype,integrated the hydraulic system and evaluation of the experiment.This article was taken research on the key technologies to improve the shift quality of the torque converter and parallel gearbox under three aspects, including mechanical system, the hydraulic system and the electrical control system.1. Intrduct the mechanical structure of the Torque Converter and Parallel Gearbox System and indicate its merits.2. During the shifting process, shifting impact is inevitable which affect the vehicle ride comfort and comfortableness. Comprehensive analysis the effect influencing factors and divides it to mechanical hydraulic system and electric control system. The hardware structures are mianly inclues hydraulic system, execution eystem, signal sampling system, and electric control system. The software structures are including shifting schedule and shift strategy.3. Study on the key technologies of mechanical and hydraulic system. Matching the parameter of the hydraulic cylinder and synchronizer by modeling its mathematical model and choose the right parameter to improving the shifting qulity. We analyzed the wet clutch friction characteristics. There are three stages in the engagement of the clutch. Change the strcture of the wet cultch from multi-disc to single plate clutch and check the torque capacity that the clutches can transmission.4. Make the shift schedule of torque converter and parallel gearbox which control the vehicle by velocity and throttle opening. Analyse the control discipline of engine by control the throttle opening. Analyse the three stages in the engagement of the clutch and build the modeling of engagement.We control the speed of engagement by throttle, engine rotating speed and current gear.5. Take test on the stage and on the sample car to test the shifting schedule and shift strategy. On the stage test, we test the shifting performance and simulate the proving ground test. It proved that mechanical and hydraulic system can work dependable. The road test was taken and it proved that the shifting schedule and shift strategy is correct and executable. Trought the data we can see that the system work well according shifting schedule and the shifting is short than original car and the jerk are acceptable.
