Traffic congestion, travel difficulties, has become a troubled life of the people of China and constraints of urban development is a major challenge to address the growing problem of urban traffic congestion, the city of more than million people, have turned to the development of subway and light rail transport system.In the new century, with economic development, reform and opening up, in the land of China, many major cities to speed up the pace of construction of the subway. In order to alleviate urban traffic congestion, Beijing, Shanghai, Tianjin, Guangzhou, four mega-cities not only in the continued construction of the MTR, but also to re-planning of urban rail transport blueprint, in order to facilitate the development of the city and extension of the new century. To the end of 2002, subway and light rail mileage has reached 228.94km.
