With the increasingly serious problem of energy shortage, wind power has become one of the hottest research points in energy related high technologies. This paper takes the transport technology of wind power equipment on intertidal zone as the engineering background, summarizes the development status of multi-crawler track vehicles both at home and abroad. It takes the LYC150 crawler track vehicle, jointly developed by Dalian University of Technology and DHI·DCW Group Co., Ltd., as an example, applies the multi-body dynamics theory and hydraulic system simulation theory on the modeling, test research and optimization of the multi-crawler track vehicle. The main research work of this paper is summarized as follows.(1) Propose the structural scheme, working principle and hydraulic system scheme for the multi-crawler track vehicle according to the technical requirements of the vehicle.(2) Establish the dynamics model of the multi-crawler track vehicle using RecurDyn, introduce the modeling process of the sprocket, center flange roller, single flange roller, track, and other key components in detail, and complete the dynamics models of the multi-crawler track vehicle and the ground.(3) Set up the models of the key components of the hydraulic system based on AMESim, such as closed pump and hydraulic motor etc. and the simulation model of the entire closed hydraulic system of the multi-crawler track vehicle is built.(4) Carry out the experiment research of the driving process of the multi-crawler track vehicle. The experiment results are compared with the simulation results to verify the correctness of the virtual prototype of the multi-crawler track vehicle.(5) Analyze the factors that may affect the steering performance of the multi-crawler track vehicle, the analysis pays special attention to impact of the track gauge, track hinge points distance and track width on the steering performance of the multi-crawler track vehicle. The trends of these parameters affecting the working pressure are introduced.By above research, the modeling method of the virtual prototype of the multi-crawler track vehicle is introduced and its correctness is verified by experiment. The factors that may affect the steering performance of the multi-crawler track vehicle are analyzed based on the virtual prototype, which can provide theoretical references for further study and development of the multi-crawler track vehicle.
