The virtual design method of heavy belt conveyor based on RecurDyn is submitted by the research on Virtual Prototype of belt conveyor with twin driving respective drums in this dissertation .It will accelerate the virtual technology to apply to the realm of belt conveyor's research and design, in order to reduce the product cost, shorten the product cycle and make the product suiting to the market better. Pulley is important part for belt conveyor and it is also the main forced and damageable part. With the belt conveyor becomes larger, the traditional calculating and design method can not ensure the reliability and economy of pulley, so we need using modern design method to calculate, design and research the pulley. In this thesis, the author studied the structural intensity and parametric optimization of pulley, and made the design and calculation be applied automatically by the ANSYS developing program.The main research contents of this topic including following several aspects:First, the author has outlined the development and the research present situation of the belt conveyer, then summarized and analyzed in detail about the transmission drum's classification, the research present situation, the design parameter and so on, finally elaborated the research goal, significance, plan, aim and the technical route.Second, this topic has carried on a more profound elaboration to the rationale of virtual prototype. For the first used software - ANSYS, the author namely has carried on the narration to the static theory of the finite element analysis. Afterwards, for the second used software-Recurdyn, the author has used great length writing and carried on the comprehensive theoretical analysis, including theoretical outline about the toolbox'Belt toolkit'.Third, the author has carried on the structural design for the transmission drum. Not only in which including for the drum shell's diameter, thickness and width, but the connecting piece between the drum shaft, the radial plate, the wheel hub and the axis and the wheel hub. After finishing the design about the drum's each main body structural model, the author has analyzed in detail about the drum's possible stress situation after assembly.Fourth, in this topic, after the drum's virtual prototype has been modeled in Solidworks, it's imported to ANSYS smoothly. When carried on the finite element analysis to the drum, firstly the author has simplified the model structure, and then loaded the grid division and the restraint. Finally collected the results, made them in order and obtained satisfactory results.Fifth, the author has built the modeling about the drum's virtual prototype and other basic parts in operating using the Belt module in the software– Recurdyn and 3D software-CAD, afterwards, loaded system restraint to the drum's virtual prototype, including some essential factors like rotation, speed, driving force and so on. Finally the author has operated the virtual prototype smoothly, and obtained more satisfactory results about dynamic simulation.This topic carries on strictly according to the route which the virtual prototype is designed, the topic has achieved satisfactory results on not only building the modeling for the drum virtual prototype for the large-scale belt type, but also analyzing and researching to the static and dynamic, finally had proven the feasibility of virtual prototype's design, it brings good solution about design and research for belt conveyor's transmission drum.
