As an important management tool for modern business, as well as an important technical support for sustainable development of shipping companies, marine equipment maintenance and management, has far-reaching significance in the aspect of ensuring vessel's technical condition,improving vessel's operating efficiency and strengthening company's economic benefit. Besides, it has also become a strategic investment which has influence on present situation and future of shipping companies. When marine equipment failed or damaged, what maintenance management personnel care about is where to repair this faulty equipment and in order to get back to its specified performance and condition, which maintenance scheme should be taken under the circumstance of limited maintenance cost.In consideration of the current situation of equipment maintenance management, from the perspective of maintenance level automatic analysis for marine equipment, according to marine equipment maintenance management theory and practice firstly, this paper made an overview of the theoretical knowledge on marine equipment maintenance management and maintenance level analysis, discussed the purpose> meaning and necessity of LORA; secondly, with reference to military vessels' equipment maintenance and management methods and techniques, methods and techniques used for repair level analysis of equipments serve on civilian vessels were explored, a new set of methods and techniques which can solve the problem of marine equipments'level of analysis was put forward, an index system for marine equipment comprehensive analysis was build, meanwhile, the algorithm on repair level of comprehensive analysis was discussed; besides, this paper introduced the concept of modular marine equipment, made an analysis of the maintenance cost computation problem, discussed the causal relationship between different costs, constructed computing model of maintenance costs, realized abstract expression of maintenance costs; last but not least, based on actual need of marine equipment maintenance and management informatization, it also proposed the overall design and objective about the marine equipment maintenance management system, analyzed and designed function structure,architecture,coding structure,running process of the system and also the logistic structure of the database; and then with the use of modern computer technology, followed rapid prototyping method of software engineering, embedded method for marine equipment maintenance level analysis and computing model for maintenance costs, eventually, it developed a VB-based marine equipment maintenance and management (maintenance level analysis) system, achieved predictable maintenance support and level of automatic & informatizational analysis. Empirical study shows that the proposed approach above-mentioned is rational and feasible, the system developed is practical and reliable. In a word, both of these method and system will have practical meaning and guiding sense to the promotion of research on equipment maintenance management and the improvement of efficiency and informatization level of the equipment maintenance management work.
