The surface decoration of wooden materials has become basic demand for people's pursueing high-quality lives. Most methods can be used for the surface decoration of the wooden materials, but the problem of damaging induced by light can be neglected neither in veneered decoration nor in coated decoration. In this work, the light-induced discoloration is investigated in basswood single board, decorative paper (wood-veined paper and impregnated paper) and PVC sticker (dark and light color). It showed that the change of decorative materials surface chemical structrure and the science essence of corlor changing,which was used by surface-analysis technology such as x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) In this work, we hope to provide basic and scientific theory to avoid damaging induced by light. The main results are shown as followed:The changing of color after the light-induced discoloration of basswood single board mostly comes from lignin and oxidative degradation.That is to say that the changing of relative content of basic groups makes the nature selective absorption altered.The changing of color according to the light-induced discoloration of impregnated paper, which comes from the chromophoric group (chemical bonds are break and restucturing) change of high polymer materials that makes selective absorption-character changed.The reasons of the light-induced discoloration of PVC sticker are mostly from physical factors, which can be observed by the relative steady of carbon valence.In conclusion, the reason and law of the light-induced discoloration are synthesized. This will provide theoretical basis for the scientific protection and optimize selection of the decoration materials. In addition, it also provides a very important significance to improve production durability and the quality of human settlement.
