Steel frame structure is one of the most basic forms of high-rise steel structure system. Square steel tube columns and H shape steel beam semi-rigid frame structures is currently a hot research issue in the civil engineering. Earthquake disaster shows that fully welded joints are so brittle that they tend to brittle fracture due to poor ductility and great residual stress. Semi-rigid steel frame structures are the leading which is one of development and research in the future, which is fairly flexible and energy dissipation capacity can resist certain seismic load. The purpose of this paper provide some theoretic reference for seismic design of steel tube column and H shape steel beam semi-rigid frame structures through the analysis on the seismic capability of steel tube column and H shape steel beam frame with semi-rigid connections under severe earthquakes.In the paper, some models of relations between bending moment and rotation of semi-rigid connection are introduced. Using the rotational stiffness of the spring element simulated to semi-rigid connections. Using finite element analysis software ANSYS, numerical analysis models of steel tube column semi-rigid frames can be found, and simulate to one type- three spans-six floors and three types- three spans-six floors. Factors of the lateral stiffness and dynamic performance of square steel tube columns and H shape steel beam semi-rigid frame structures are analyzed. To determine damage mechanism and influence factors of steel tube column semi-rigid frames. Research on the vibration characteristic and time-history response under seismic load, and research on development situation and deformation of beam-column joints, which the influence of properties beam-column joint. Therefore, square steel tube columns and H shape steel beam semi-rigid frame structures have performance superiority which provides reference for the seismic design of steel frame structures.
