Energy and environment are basic conditions for human beings to survive and develop. China produces and consumes a lot of energy every year. As the economy is developing and people's living standards is improving, the requirement of energy will grow. The energy supply cannot match the requirement for a period. Meanwhile, the environment problems caused by the unrestrained use of energy are also having a bad influence in the daily life of people. The Integrated Gasification Combined Cycle (IGCC) is an important branch of Clean Coal power generation technologies. It's a mean to promote the efficiency of energy utilization and to reduce pollution. IGCC is an acknowledged technology for its advantages in environment protection. The CO2 Capture and Storage (CCS) is well known for reducing the greenhouse gas emitted by industry. This paper will integrate IGCC and CCS to promote the efficiency of the power plant when cutting emission of CO2 at the same time. It will make our nation keep the pledge of greenhouse gas emissions reduction.This paper creates a model of an IGCC power plant with pre-combustion CO2 capture by use of the software Aspen Plus. The exergy analysis of the model demonstrates the combustion process and the air separation plant get the biggest exergy lost. The key method to promote exergy efficiency is utilizing the chemical energy in a more effective way.The simulation is carried out with the model by modifying some technical parameters. The trends of the system efficiency and the power lose per CO2 captured is demonstrated in different CO2 capture ratio adjusted by different method. The CO2 capture ratio is the key parameter. When the CO2 capture ratio of Selexol is increasing from 20% to 95%, the efficiency drops 5.1 points of percentage with the output power droping 37MW. When the shift ratio is changing in the CO Shift Unit, there is a minimum value of CO2 capture ratio, which is around 70%.The advantages and disadvantages of the market expansion of IGCC power plant with CO2 capture is demonstrated by the economy calculation. The cost of CO2 capture is the highest in the cost of whole CCS link. Adopting an appropriate CO2 storage method will reduce the cost of CCS effectively. The government should enhance the sustaining force on IGCC power plants, and raise network price of plants, and reduce or waive taxes and fees, spread clean energy and low carbon technologies.Finally, a research on the site selection of IGCC demonstration with CCS is done. AHP method is utilized for choosing the best site for the demonstration when the technology parameters are settled. Comparing between several cases, the result shows that the demonstration should select a site where the fuel cost and construction cost is rather low at the early stage of IGCC. The CO2 capture ratio should be relatively high, such as 60% or 70%, and the support from the government, such as reduce or waive taxes and fees, is also absolutely necessary. |
