With the rapid economic development, throughout the country are engaged in construction, Construction in progress are more and more affected by the growing impact of disasters, and disaster prevention and mitigation in the construction has not been appreciated sufficiently. Through access to relevant information and documents, construction in disaster and disaster prevention and mitigation had been studied, the main contents were as follows:1. Disaster in progress was summarized and classified, the characteristics, risks of types of disasters and the impact of construction in progress were analyzed. Damage modes of the major disasters in progress, earthquake, fire, wind, snowstorm were researched, has laid the foundation for the research of disaster prevention and mitigation.2. Combined with the development and the study of numbers of casualties in excavation engineering, reasons of casualties in excavation engineering were summarized, including the important problems of selection of retaining structure, design calculations, deformation control, groundwater control, computational model under earthquake of soil nailing retaining wall was analyzed. Factor of safety against sliding under static stability analysis and dynamic stability analysis were analyzed.3. Based on the categories of scaffold engineering and formwork engineering, disasters effect ways of which were analyzed, value problems ofμ2 in specification of scaffold pole stability and connections with wall were explained. And wind effect of connections with wall was researched systematically,ζandζ,curve were proposed.4. The paper has proposed U-curve of the failure probability and structural lifetime in construction, and the concept of "System engineering of disaster prevention and mitigation". Disaster prevention and mitigation of earthquake, fire, wind, snowstorm, excavation engineering and scaffold formwork engineering were analyzed.
