With the development of automotive electronics, the internal structure of vehicles becomes more and more complex, and the difficulty of the automobile fault diagnosis increases greatly. At the same time, domestic auto companies continue to expand the scale, and resources are not distributed evenly between departments.Diagnosis is often difficult to live with adequate senior technical personnel, somehow it hindered the development of automotive fault diagnostic industry. The project "Automobile remote diagnostic platform" deeply researches on the dilemma of automotive fault diagnostic industry. In order to coordinate the various units in the cooperative enterprise, and to integrate manpower and resources, the project introduces the "Collaborative" concept into the industry. The introduction of the "Collaborative" concept will eliminate the "island" phenomenon in automotive fault diagnostic industry, and ultimately provide sustainable development.Automobile diagnostic remote collaborative conference system is the contribution which the project makes to introduce the concept of "Collaborative" into the automotive fault diagnostic industry. With sophisticated video conferencing technology, Automobile diagnostic remote collaborative conference system provides a fresh new model for the automotive fault diagnostic industry, makes the diagnosis expert have the ability to remotely participate in the fault diagnosis scene, alleviates the uneven distribution of the insufficient high-level technical personnel resources.With the classic video diagnostic record, Automobile diagnostic remote collaborative conference system establishes an efficient way to share and use the knowledge of diagnosis experts. The paper researches the basic video compression principles and the implementation aspects of H.264 standard, then discusses on the proposed improvement in integer transform and quantization process of the H.264 standard. In the last part of this paper, it shows out some key ideas and details of the implementation of Automobile diagnostic remote collaborative conference system, and makes a few pertinent suggestions for the further improvement of the project "Automobile remote diagnostic platform".
