With the development of national economy, in the ports, rail yards of loading and unloading goods, construction sites and shipyards, the lifting machinery is used more and more widely and the role is more and more important. Because of the big lifting capacity, the strong continuity operations, the poor environment on-site and so on, in the process of the actual use of lifting machinery it's prone to bring about accidents, causing irreparable casualties and huge property losses. In order to protect the working safety of the cranes, the National standard Bureau issued the standard crane safety regulations GB 6067-85 and required the most basic safe requirements on the design, manufacture, inspection, scraping, use and management of the cranes. However, individual injuries and equipment accidents due to lifting machinery are common. The lack of effective supervision and management is the one main cause of frequent accidents. How to monitor and manage these devices and to ensure the reliability of operation and to improve the economic efficiency of enterprises is one of the goals of modern business management.A large crane structure remote monitoring system based on GPRS technology and WEB technology were designed and developed in this paper. The system based on B/S model platform and wireless communication network, can achieve the high-precision data collection of dynamic load stress and other parameters, keep data transporting secure and efficient, implement on-line monitoring and warning in advance and safety assessment based on monitoring data. As a result of the practical application, the system could ensure reliable data and stable performance and be of great significance to improve the efficiency and safety of the cranes.So it would create enormous economic and practical benefit and fits in with the long-term monitoring of huge cranes and structural testing and other projects.The full text is divided into seven chapters.Chapter one emphasized the importance of crane safety, and analyzed the lack of conventional methods of detection and monitoring of crane structure and made general summarizes on structural safety evaluation of lifting appliances and security monitoring system's for the present situation.Then it proposed a large crane structure remote monitoring system based on GPRS technology and WEB technology.In chapter two focused on four data transmission methods by comparing their advantages and disadvantages, and it is suitable for us to adopt the wireless data transmission technology based on GPRS. In addition it proposed solution methods on the problems of a small amount of packet loss of UDP protocols and data compression to reduce the GPRS flow.In chapter three the principle of strain measurement based on TDC was studied. Then by comparing the zero compensation and temperature compensation between the traditional method and the method based on TDC, it proved that the compensation method based on TDC is reliable and convenient to use.Chapter four the methods of the weight stress calculation and the zero drift correction was studied. It also made thorough researches that how to analyze structural deterioration trend and estimate the residual fatigue life of large cranes on line according to static and dynamic test results.In chapter five the designing method of the port machinery structure dmonitoring system's software and hardware was analyzed and designed.Then it briefly described the hardware components of the system and emphatically designed the software part including GPRS DTU terminal contol and the monitoring center,and a large crane structure remote monitoring system based on WEB technology was developed in this chapter.In chapter six the reliability and stability testing and application capability testing of the crane monitoring system were designed and accomplished.It demonstrated the reliability and practicality of the system.In chapter seven the paper's main research work and achievement were summarized generally, and the forecast to the research work and development direction in the future was made, such as to add the fault diagnosis function of the system, the data transfer and database access security issues, with the mobile network from 2.5G developing to 3G, system's hardware and software upgrade issues.
