With the level of productivity forces growing and the social economy developing, the modern urban distribution network has been developing fast, the network is increasingly complex. Distribution network reconfiguration is the important measure of optimal operation of distribution systems, which may bring out great benefit both in economy and in society. Distribution network reconfiguration is defined as altering the topological structures of the system by operating the sectionalizing and tie switches. The distribution reconfiguration can reduce the power loss, and eliminate the overload of the lines, and improve the power quality, and restore the power supply to non-fault area in the distribution network and so on. The paper proposed an approach for distribution network reconfiguration based on Hybrid Ant Colony Algorithms which is a novel intelligent optimization algorithm. That is significant not only to solve the problem itself but also to develop the intelligent technology in the new field.Firstly, network topological and mathematics models about service restoration reconfiguration in distribution networks based on the analysis of the distribution network is proposed. The power flow is calculated by the scheme of distributed computing which is based on the former back algorithm mixed with layered structure model.Secondly, on the basis of the introduction of basic ant colony algorithm and basic simulated annealing algorithm, they are combined to a kind of hybrid advanced algorithm by introduction of the hybrid behaviors migration scheme and the pheromone modification based on supplemented parameter of branch impedance. Based on MATLAB platform, the optimization results prove feasibility and effectiveness of hybrid advanced algorithm by simulating the IEEE-33 bus system and a certain distribution system in northwest China.Finally, the hybrid advanced ant colony algorithm is applied to service restoration reconfiguration in distribution system, and results program processing is extended from single-objective optimization to multi-objective optimization. Through on programming the PG&E-69 bus system, it can be proved the hybrid advanced algorithm can be applied on the multi-objective service restoration of distribution network.
