Electric power is the foundation of the national economy, the substation is the hinge between power plants and users and a key link in the whole system's security and reliable operation. As the basement and supporting power of strong smart grid, the data acquisition and command unit, smart substation will run through the whole process of smart grid construction. As the core content of smart substation, smart substation network structure has important practical significance for smart substation and smart grid constructionThis paper, firstly, summed up the development general situation of substations and substation remote viewing system around the world. We illustrates smart substation framework system, such as substation basic structure, substation secondary circuit communication mode, substation process bus network scheme, substation bus network scheme, the system redundancy, etc. Some new substation automation technology are discussed, such as irregular transformer, IEC61850 standards, network communication technology and intelligent once equipment. Secondly, combining the application status of the current smart substation network structure, the optimal design of smart substation network structure is introduced. The concrete network structure optimizing design scheme and optimization schemes characteristics are offered too. Finally, from the theoretical perspective completed the optimization of smart substation remote viewing system (RVSS) and solved some key technologies involved in the optimization scheme, such as establishing mapping relation, capturing GOOSE message, analyzing GOOSE message and information safety protection.
