With development of information technology and progress of society, intelligent digital dimming technology gradually replaced the analog dimming technology becomes the new favorite of the consumer for its high relability, feature-rich, flexible operation and energy conservation. In addition, the traditonal way of lighting has huge energy dissipation, and energy conservation has become the subject that goverments strongly advocated. Therefore, intelligence and energy-saving has become the main direction of the development of lighting devices and lighting control system. Full use of computer network technology, communication technology and electronic technology, the intelligent lighting system based on DALI (Digital Addressable Lighting Interface) protocol can connect all lighting device in the building together to achieve efficient management and control, and reduce lighting energy consumption. Therefore, this paper chooses DALI intellgent lighting system as research objects and proposes a new design specially used for small spaces based on DALI protocol, also, the sample system is designed, provided a new method and idea for the intelligent lighting industry.This paper analyzed the development history and statue of intelligent lighting system at home and aboard at first, and introduced several mainstream protocol used for intelligent lighting system, then focus on the intelligent lighting system based on DALI. In this paper, the development background, characteristic, compisiton and electrical properties of DALI protocol are described, and code format, code sequence and data transmission rules are analyzed in detail.The whole lighting system consists of DALI master controller, DALI dimmable electronic ballast and dimming control software. This paper finished the hardware design and software design of DALI master controller based on Atmega16 of Atmel. This paper also finished the hardware design and software design of DALI dimmable electronic ballast based on uPD78f0756 of NEC, and mainly introduced the hareware and software implementation method that realized the communication, PFC control, frequency control and gmergency protection by only one chip. In the end, this paper designed a simple dimming control software using Visual Basic development tools. In addition, to overcome the defect that difficult to realize local distributed control in traditonal DALI lighting system, this paper increased the key module, infrared remote control module and illuminance measurement module, and with this module DALI lighting system can not only realizes local control by using key module and infrared remote control module but also can work in auto-dimming mode by using illuminance measurement module.Experimental results show that the system is stable, low communication error rate, low cost, and dimming range from 5% to 100%, especially the signal-chip integrated system design of DALI dimmable electronic ballast, has a certain practical value and design reference value.
