The failure mechanism of asphalt road is one of the central issues, which has been focused by the professional road workers. The pavement structure damage is mainly caused by the vehicle loads on the pavement. The vehicle loads include the vertical force, the horizontal force and the vibratory wallop. The internal stress distribution of the asphalt pavement structure is complicated. The research results show that the internal shearing stress of the pavement structure is one of the main reason which make the pavement damage. The common modes of failure include upheaval and crack. These modes mainly result from the longitudinal shearing stress and the transverse shearing stress. While the vertical shearing stress mainly results in the track. Considering different contact states between the layers and different pavement structure parameters, the dissereation takes use of the finite element software to establish the finite element mode and analyse the regularity distribution of the longitudinal shearing stress and the transverse shearing stress between the layers. Meanwhile, combined with the measured data to evaluates the corresponding pavement structure's shear strength between layers and put forward for different shearing stress index to offer reference for the asphalt pavement design, which are applied to different overload conditions.
