Gear-box is the most important part of rotating machinery transmission and plays a key role in the production. Once the gearing of rolling mill breaks down, the economic losses will be enormous. In the fault of rolling mill's gearing system, gear-box's fault holds a large proportion. Therefore gear-box fault monitoring technology and methods on machinery and equipment in recent years has been an important area of fault diagnosis issues.For the reasons above, the thesis takes a systemic investigation of gear-box monitoring and failure diagnosis. Firstly, on the sides of sympathetic vibration and the analysis of vibration signals, this thesis takes a technical analysis for gear-box. Secondly, on the basis of overall solution and using a virtual instrument software(LabVIEW), a program development work is carried out to system.The research of the status monitoring module includes data storage and query, de-noise, Time-Frequency analysis, fault characteristic frequency calculation. The function of de-niose module is to remove the mixed signals, Time-Frequency analysis module mediates the vibration signals, combined with FFT and power spectral analysis method for fault extraction, data storage and query module collectes the signal into database, when the experts or users are free and enter the query language, they can view the spectrum an the time, combined with fault characteristic frequency calculation and the criteria of fault diagnostic module, the function of fault diagnosis comes true, the role of vibration signals directly to obtain the fault characteristics including frequency, and determine the type of fault.In this thesis, the study results show that the gear-box online monitoring and fault diagnosis system which are based on module and humanistic design idea has the following advantages: low cost, reliable, friendly interface, easy to extend. It not only used on vibration signal monitoring and fault diagnosis but also achieved on the remote-monitoring of fault vibration signal.
