| Mechanical assembly is the last step of the production manufacturing, and plays an important role. With the rapid development and application of agile manufacturing, much attention has been paid to the study of agile assembly. The rapid design of assemble process file which guide assembly operation is one important part of agile assembly and can improve the efficiency and quality of assembly. According to the practical assembly problems of a specific product from certain enterprises, this paper has researched a rapid design technology of assembly process based on process similarity and developed a system supporting rapid design and business management. The main contents of this paper are as follows:(1)A similarity system of final assembly process was constructed. For the reuse of typical process, assembly was classified based on the formation of itself. A variety of factors which affect the formative processes were used as classify attributes.(2)The rapid design strategy of final assembling process was presented. The application of case-based reasoning technology in final assembling process was mainly analyzed and the similarity retrieval algorithms of general assembly process and typical assembly process were studied. Fuzzy mathematics method was used in treating the weight of description attribute. The procedure of rapid design was realized gradually by reusing the similar processes from general to detail.(3)Based on the detailed analysis of system requirements, roles and business modules of the rapid design system were assigned. Meanwhile, the system architecture was built and the database was designed.(4)The prototype system was based on B/S structure, using J2EE specification as software platform and using Java, JSP as development language. All the functions such as rapid design, approval and management of assembly process were realized at last. This system has been applied in the enterprise.
