With the arriving of transition epoch, in which new energy substitutes traditional energy, development and usage of renewable energy sources have become trend. Recently, wind power technology obtains great progress and extensive development. The increment of wind turbine tower height and the adding of wind turbine size make the load expressed on wind turbine generator system (WTGS) more complex. In addition, the design technology of wind turbine generator system structure is very immature, which leads to frequent collapse of wind turbine and irrationality of foundation design directly. Therefore, it is urgent to analyze reinforced concrete foundation in detail and optimize design research in order to guarantee its economic rationality.Firstly, In this paper, design principles and unique structure of wind turbine foundation are analyzed so these existed currently or potential design problems could be proposed. Calculating and checking to original design of a practical engineering example through conclusion of interrelated design procedure to put forward insufficiency of wind turbine foundation theory.Secondly, on the basis of finite element simulation software ANSYS, three-dimensional model of wind turbine foundation at typical load working condition is established through finite element method (FEM). Considering transmittal mode of wind turbine load, non-linear contact between foundation ring and concrete and non-linear contact between foundation and ground, discrete steel rods model could be created. And this model will be calculated and simulated by adopting linear elastic model and elastic-plastic model respectively, which make the research on stress characteristic of wind turbine foundation more deeply and stress condition of foundation better understanding. It is necessary to discover rules and find method for proposing relationship formula between embedment depth of foundation ring and web thick Ness in order to providing the basis for design and construction of wind turbine foundation.Finally, based on the results of stress characteristic analysis obtained from previous chapter and considering the real size of foundation and stress distribution condition of the earth, universal parametric model of wind turbine foundation is established by using optimization design function of finite element software ANSYS. We can optimize wind turbine foundation through designing and optimizing variables, thereby arriving at optimized design project, which makes a contribution for structure design and further research of wind turbine foundation.
