1553B bus is a serial bus standard which is issued by the U.S. military for aircraft avionic system. In this thesis, based on analysising the function and performance requirements of 1553B device the test plan and the method of malfunction simulation is proposed, the 1553B malfunction simulation device is developed, the experiment is carried to test the device. The device can be an important tool to validate the 1553B terminal compatibility, which can have the vital significance to improve the application of 1553B technology and further improve the reliability and the safety of 1553B avionics system.The thesis first analysises the different layers of 1553B protocol then confirms the function and performance requirements of every layer refering to ISO/OSI module. The thesis puts the importance on the research of fault handling and the performance requirements of BC and RT,analysising the the protocol of physical layer and data link layer which is set in 1553B standard and putting forward the method of malfunction simulation and performance test, then providing specific test case and rationality assessment.With PXI bus interface to connect PC 1553B malfunction simulation device is designed according to the method of malfunction simulation and performance test. The part of 1553B protocol contral and PXI interface are all digital logic circuit,so the thesis uses FPGA as the core of the hardware designing. The realization of waveform reshaping,1553B data decode/encode,1553B protocol contral,the logic of fault injection and PXI interface are all based on the Verilog HDL in the FPGA. This design scheme provides a better flexibility and extendibility for the device by simplifying the hardware design and enhancing the integration and reliability. The design of connector of device and the 1553B uses 1553B specified pulse transformer and transceiver which is producted by HOLT to ensure the reliability of data transmission. The design of software uses virtual instrument software design method,by designing driver and soft panel program under the environment of LabWindows/CVI. The driver realize the link to underlying hardware by calling VISA function library,and the soft panel complete data storage,diposig and human-machine interaction by calling the driver.Finally hardware platform is built to valvalidate the function of 1553B malfunction simulation device.Using the result of the transmission between malfunction simulation device and EXC-1553PCI/MCH simulation card of Excalibur System, to detect whether the malfunction simulation device can complete the normal data transmission and fault injection, then analysing the experimental data. The experimental result shows that 1553B malfunction simulation device can realize the test to bus terminals'compatibility, reliability and safety,as it can complete the data transmission and fault injection according to the test requirement.
