The problems of population concentration and land tension in the large cities are increasingly prominent, which caused the sunlight distance of housing can not satisfy peoples'demand. But enough sunshine inside rooms is necessary to healthy life of human beings, especially in the northern cold districts. The current sunlight standard is too low and the reflection of residents is too large in winter cities at present. In addition, several problems also exist in planning and management of sunshine on building.The current sunlight standard is too low in our country, especially in the cold districts, it often can not meet the demand of the residents. Planning and design of residential areas in Harbin, often use the coefficient of minimum sunlight distance, but under the circumstance of meeting the sunlight standard, it does not meet the demand of every resident on sunshine. In this paper, with a focus on urban residential area in Harbin, it takes the sunlight environment as the basic researches. By the means of simulating and analysising the sunlight environment of typical residence mode in Harbin and aiming at the existing problems, it puts forward the optimizing strategy of sunlight environment. It provides basic analysis information to perfect and deepen the relevant local regulations and implementing regulations. Meanwhile, it has positive significances for building healthy and pleasant residential living environment, and constructing energy-saving residential area. Furthermore, the analysis methods on excellent situation of the residential sunlight environment provide effective basis to the evaluation of residential value and to the sales for housing.This paper firstly analyzed the the characters of residential sunlight environment in Harbin, on the basis of the status survey and data collection, defines the time of sunlight environmental simulation and analysis, the working environment, the process of running and some related aspects.Then, the simulation results of the residential district sunlight environment in Harbin were analysised, which includes three main steps: determination simulation fa?ade; the determination of drawbacks in the same simulation fa?ade; solar analysis of the drawbacks.According to this steps,it simulates the sunlight environment of the five kinds of typical models, collect and analysis simulation data.Ultimately,aiming at the existing problems of typical models, it puts forward optimization strategies including minimum sunlight distance, building height(floor), the forms of building facades, with the application of computer simulation and statistics software. It also summarises quantitative relationship of sunlight hours with building heights(floors).
