| With the rapid development of China's productive forces, people gradually need more leisure time, and also have more demands for communication. This provides new requirements for public space. Waterfront open space is an important part of urban public space, and people were born with a hydrophilic, therefore, its planning and design has become an important means of improving urban functions as well as shaping the image of the city.Harbin is a typical city of cold region, the Songhua River waterfront open space is a significant representative of Harbin's waterfront open space. Whether the environment could support the comfortable activities of the user, has become an important factor affecting its popularity. Therefore, the research of the relationship between the environment of waterfront open space and the comfort of user's activity is crucial. This thesis attempts to use the user's activities as the starting point to research and evaluate the environmental quality of Songhua River waterfront open space, and to explore the relationship between human's activities and their environment. In addition, this thesis attempts to put forward the corresponding environmental optimization strategy for Songhua River waterfront open space based on a comprehensive, accurate analysis. And finally it attempts to come up with a corresponding conclusion for waterfront open space design. The thesis adopts problem-oriented research method. Firstly, it brings up the questions. They include the theoretical questions from the relevant abroad research results; practical questions based on surveys and analysis of first-hand information. Secondly, it analyzes the questions by using relative domestic and international researches concerning waterfront open space environment design as references to analyze the basic research for Songhua River waterfront open space design. Thirdly, it solves the problems. Based on the previous two parts, it attempts to propose a strategy to solve the problems for Songhua River waterfront open space environment design. The last step is to test problems. It tries to practically demonstrate the proposed ideas and strategies by analyzing the environment design for Stalin Park. This paper aims to study the environment-related strategies for waterfront open space of cold regions. Starting with the consideration for improving people's feeling for comfort in waterfront open space, the paper addresses that it is necessary to improve effective climate protection measures and design principles, to extend time for people's activities, to reduce the negative impacts on comfort for human's activities, which might be caused by cold weather or design problems. |
