Along with the rapid growth of social economics and the process of urbanization, many cities in the world confront problems of population explosion, traffic congestion and air pollution. Due to the important role played by the rail transit system in solving the'city disease', many cities has planned or are planning to build such systems. The demand of intercity rail transit is gradually increasing with the growing interaction between cities, so the construction of intercity rail transit becomes imperative. The intercity rail transit could enhance the ability of metropolitan radiation, promote the overall economy and social sustainable development, save energy, protect environment and eventually raise the residents'living standard. In order to be adaptive with the process, the paper has discussed the integrated optimization between the intercity rail transit hub and land use so as to provide a profound foundation for their planning and construction, and for the economic development within the urban agglomeration.Firstly, the paper summarizes the relevant research theory between intercity rail transit hub and land use based on the current research results, introduces the definition of integrated optimization of the two, and analyzes the three main factors (i.e. factor of regional location, factor of land use and factor of travel transfer) that affecting the integrated optimization. The paper also analyzes the interactive relationship between city and intercity rail transit, and constructs a urban agglomeration spatial potential attraction model to analyze the travel demand in between as a criteria for the planning of different scales, different frequency and different speeds. Secondly, the paper analyzes the location of intercity rail transit hub from the spatial perspective, and a location model is promoted through qualitative and quantitative analysis of the impact factors of accessibility, which is verified through case study; meanwhile, from the perspectives of passengers and policy makers, an intercity rail transit route optimization model is introduced as a relevant method for route selection. Thirdly, through a study on the relationship between traffic efficiency and the land use pattern in cities with high speed rail, a land use optimization model of the hub is presented and proved by examples. Finally, the paper studies the transfer condition between intercity rail transit and other transportation modes, and a transfer method is used as disquisitive support for seamless transfer.
