Switched Reluctance Machine not only has a number of advantages, including simple and robust structure, low cost, more controllable parameters, wide speed-regulating range, good fault-tolerant and heat-resistant, but also can operate in four-quadrant. Thus,with the development of the modern power electronics technique and microprocessor control technique, SRM is widely used in drive and speed regulation field, and also has more and more attention in generation field,which became a research hotspot at home and abroad.There are more and more research attention in switched reluctance motor, but the control system and performance optimization of Switched Reluctance Machine has not been treated extensively. This paper mainly focuses on theorstic research and experimental research in control system and performance optimization of SRG.Firstly, how switched reluctance generator works and how to control it are explained. The linear and nonlinear mathematic models of SRG were produced. This paper also analyzed the faults and advantages about three base controls of the SRG.Secondly, a power closed loop system of SRG was produced. The output power and energy conversion efficiency of SRG is low, when it operates in low-speed. In order to overcome the above problem, this paper presented a power closed loop system of SRG based on angle position control (APC). When the SRG is operated in low and medium speeds, PWM control can be used in SRG basis of the APC. The phase generation current of SRG will to raise with the low generation voltage by controling the dutycycle of PWM. Then,the output power and energy conversion efficiency of SRG will to increase.Finally, the simulation and experiment of the four phase 8/6 SRG system is analyzed. The results show that the power closed loop system of SRG based on APC can raise the phase current and improve energy conversion efficiency of SRG. And also verify the validity and feasibility of the system.
